Vintage fly fishing gear hand carved from NZ 'Swamp' Kauri timber. The hat is separate and the fishing creel lid opens. Pity there's no trout inside.
Hemideina Thoracica, the Auckland Tree Weta has been handmade from treated Pinus Radiata timber. Sections are hand carved with detachable legs, which when fitted may be moved up and down, to make contact with an uneven surface. The sculpture is hand painted using Acrylic paint, and the feelers are shaped from copper. At 1800mm long and 1700 mm across the large size is designed to give scale when displayed outdoors. Love them or hate them everyone’s got a story about their unique encounter with a Weta.
Tuatara sunning itself. Hand carved from Creosoted Pine Railway sleepers and painted using acrylic paint. The spines and claws are made from beef bone and attached. The sculpture is 1300mm long and stands 1100 mm high.
